Namely, I'm anxious. I have a rather pervasive illness that causes this, but in social situations it doesn't really matter to people that I cannot help it, even if they know about it and are close to me. They seem to expect that I can just "get over it" at any given moment and in response to anything.
People respect moderate to severe depression at this point, but often not anxiety. My cute way of explaining it is that people have stopped telling me to smile, but they are still blindly telling me to relax. Frequently when they should know better. If I could relax, who in the fuck thinks I wouldn't? I'd give anything to just "relax," whenever. It would enable me to live my life. As it is my life is in stasis.
The other thing is that I can be loud and vulgar and blunt. But I'm good at it, and it usually only bothers people I wouldn't want to spend any time with.

I badly need to research Obama and Edwards more thoroughly, but it looks like I've got them in a dead heat. The quiz has less than 20 questions though.

Happy birthday to someone who doubtless has many such well-wishers,
alisgray. When I met you, I was more afraid of life and of people, and I though you were an affected sort of person. Now that I'm less of a re-re, you're this shining beacon of goodness and fun, and when I think of you, all I want is for you to only have to deal with folks who appreciate that, and have at least some of that in themselves. Also I want to see more of you. I suppose this is the upshot of our service economy: very busy people who work in it are findable for a certain amount of time every week. ;) Have a good one, and be happy, please. <3
OK, sorry, this meme is ( big. )
I believe that presuming I ever believed in Santa Claus is ultimately offensive, and it makes me want to stop doing anything Writer's Block-related. Also I'm tempted to put my fist through my monitor.
...Yes folks, this is what working in retail through the holidays does to a Jew. I will accept sympathy, if you've got any for such a silly thing. ;)
I wondered why
echofire wasn't pimping this. Then I realized it's 'cause I use the Message Center (which yes, I'm told is a silly way to get notified that your friends have posted) and I don't have notifications for his posts. He is pimping it, but I already posted; so here's the new Avenpitch ( video. )

Well, since it was brought up (thanks
laguz_godin):
Not enough of the kind of LGBT media coverage that fosters and focuses on tolerance and desensitization, instead of groveling for acceptance and whining that we are normal. We're not normal. We never will be. Why the fuck do so many of us think we're supposed to be? Are we that into shitting on ourselves? Have we NO pride at this point?
Not enough visibility, because when we are published and/or noticed, it's selected for the wrong reasons or we are noticed in the wrong way. This is something we have to fix.

Ever since I was a child, I've loved bumper stickers. I'm a wear-it-on-your-sleeve sort of person ultimately. Now, for the first time, I have my own car. ( So I have a very important poll for y'all to take. )
- Right now:
complacent
On multiple occasions, people who know of my Russophilia and my sketchy acquaintance with the language have expressed shock that Putin wins elections by such a wide margin. They tend to take it as evidence that the elections are fixed. It is natural for us to look at a former-KGB despot and cringe. I have tried to use what I know to counter that the shit doesn't surprise me at all, and that considering the alternatives or lack thereof which face them, the people of Russia sort of know what they're doing when they vote for the little weasel-- wait, I like weasels... the dodgy little twerp. But this does a very good job of explaining the phenomenon, and I take too long to explain stuff. So if you've ever wondered, you should read it. It's Washington Post, no popups and not too many cookies.

It's a good thing LJ retains one's userpics for a bit when one's account lapses. Otherwise, those of you with notifications would be so fucked right now.
I have a bunch of wacky new shit in my life, but I haven't figured all of it out enough to explain it yet.
Guesses are welcome. I enjoy that kind of thing.

I am researching car insurance because I am being given a car. The best quote I have is from Esurance. I've heard them mentioned in passing, but I know nothing of their reputation among humans in my sphere of existence. The 3 online quote services-or-whatever I used did not quote Progressive at me, so I should probably get that quote separately, judging from all I've heard about them. (I did get a Geico quote. It was surprisingly crappy.)
So, Esurance? Anyone have it? Heard anything?
Thanks for any noise you might make <3

Reposted, now with fixed elementary html (duh)! Thanks for the heads up,

This is a visual test of whether you are right- or left-brained. I know there's lots of shit like that around, but I always think of myself as left-brained. Not only does this counter that, it did so immediately. I tried seeing it the left-brained way, which is supposed to be doable by focusing differently; and usually I can do that kind of thing but here, I can't.
Guess it's time to run off to Sedona and start painting or something.
Anyone else get any surprises from this?
